Alexandra Moisescu-  the social butterfly

#TheAlternativeSchool x We Invent are launching the #YoungLady interview series, recommended by RSM, empowering female talent.

Creativity “it’s not something you do, it’s rather who you are”, a lens through which we consume life in all its complexity. What about local talent ? “They’ve been trained to make something out of almost nothing, so they are resourceful & disruptive”. Want more? As part of the #YoungLionsRomania2025 series, meet the opinionated Alexandra Moisescu, a fearless #YoungLady who opens widely the doors of her inner world, where music, writing, and visual art flow freely as boundless expressions of the soul.

Alongside Catalina Manea, Alexandra won the Young Lions Print competition, empowered by Ursus Breweries, accessing the complex festival content @CannesLions, for a week, in june 2025.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOUR SOUL SING? WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?

The feeling of being able to express what’s inside. After 10 years of singing, I realized that creativity is my way of letting go of everything I carry. Whether it’s through music, writing or any form of creative outlet, I’ve always found something that helps me process and release what I feel. That’s when I feel the most fulfilled—when I can pour my heart into something that speaks to the world.

A CHILDHOOD STORY THAT ANNOUNCED THE CREATIVE PERSON YOU ARE TODAY

When I was a lid, creativity wasn’t just something I did—it was something I was. I’d take my mom’s lipstick and turn the walls of our house into my personal canvas, sketching wild stories in shades of red. That same bold, fearless energy has stayed with me.

And then, there was the dress. A red velvet dress that wasn’t just fabric—it was magic. It held memories, emotions, and a connection to my truest, most unfiltered self. I’ve written about it my whole life because, somehow, it holds the essence of who I am—then and now.

BEST CONTEXT EVER FOR INSPIRATION WAS

Those moments of human connection, the unexpected interactions that spark creativity in the most organic way. Inspiration is everywhere, you just have to be open to it.

THE PROJECT YOU LOVED MOST

Without a doubt, the 5 to go x Durex Valentine’s Day campaign.

More than just a collab, it was a bold statement—a prevention campaign designed for young people. Since the 5 to go audience is super young, we knew we had the chance to do something meaningful: to be there for them, not just with coffee, but with relevant, important information.

Valentine’s Day is all about love, but real love also means care, awareness, and smart choices. So, we made sure this campaign wasn’t just eye-catching—it started conversations that matter. Bold, unapologetic, and exactly where it needed to be.

THE PROJECT OTHERS LOVED MOST

“SIMTE” campaign—one that I’ve yet to bring to life, but it’s the one that everyone I’ve asked about has loved the most.

It’s a concept I’ve kept close, something that explores what it truly means to feel. To experience joy and passion with every inch of your body, to be fully present in every moment. The idea is to celebrate feeling everything, from the rush of happiness to the quiet moments of reflection. Even though it’s still just an idea in my mind, the passion people have for it tells me that when the time comes, it will be something special—an experience, not just a campaign.

THE BEST THING ABOUT LOCAL CREATIVITY IS

The authenticity and boldness that comes from being deeply connected to a rich cultural history. Creatives here don’t just produce—they redefine what it means to be inspired by Romania’s traditions, history, and landscapes. Local creativity is raw, it’s real, and it carries an energy that can’t be replicated anywhere else.

BEST STATEMENT OF LOCAL HUMOR

It’s something my grandmother used to say: „Alexandra, te lupți cu morile de vânt.”  It’s a classic Romanian saying that captures the essence of fighting in Don Quixotesque proportions, for something impossible or chasing unrealistic dreams. Every time I was determined to get something or make something happen, she’d remind me with a smile that sometimes we just have to laugh at our own endless efforts—because life can feel like a battle against windmills. It’s the perfect mix of humor and wisdom.

ADVICE FOR INTERNATIONAL HEADHUNTERS, RELATED TO LOCAL CREATIVES

Don’t just look for talent—embrace the passion and adaptability.

They’ve been trained to make something out of almost nothing, so their approach to creativity is resourceful, dynamic, and often disruptive. Tap into that, and you’ll find talent that can bring bold new ideas and solutions to the global stage.

BEST PLACE IN BUCHAREST

There’s a little gem called QP Pub, tucked near Batistei. It has a vibe that’s hard to beat—this charming, beautifully chaotic design, with walls covered in all sorts of quirky texts and messages. It’s the kind of place that feels like home, no matter who you are. Oh, and they’ve got an incredible honey tequila that you absolutely can’t miss! The staff there? Top-notch—always welcoming, always with a smile.

BEST PLACE IN ROMANIA

Without a doubt, it’s home—Lerești, Argeș.

There’s something truly special about this place, a peaceful, timeless corner where nature wraps around you. It’s where I can truly reconnect with myself, surrounded by mountains, quiet streets, and the comforting rhythm of village life. No matter where I go, there’s no place like home—it’s the heart and soul of everything that brings me peace and inspiration.

MOST DISTURBING CLICHÉ ABOUT ROMANIA IN THE MEDIA OUTLETS OF THE WORLD IS

The belief that Romanians are all thieves or corrupt. The truth is, Romania is full of honest, hardworking and talented people who contribute to society in meaningful ways.

ROMANIA SHOULD BE KNOWN FOR

For its rich culture and storied history. From ancient castles to vibrant folklore, our culture tells a tale of resilience, creativity, and pride. It’s a place where history shapes the present, and every corner holds a piece of the country’s remarkable story.

YOUR VIEWS ON SPIRITUALITY

For me, spirituality is the belief in something far bigger than us, something that transcends the everyday. Is the fuel for living with intention, courage and a deep sense of love and possibility.

YOUR VIEWS ON MONEY

Money is simply a tool—it’s not the end goal, but it can bring you closer to the contexts you want to experience.

AN INSPIRATION SOURCE YOU RECOMMEND FOR A YOUNG CREATIVE

Your truest self—your own potential, your unique voice, the fire inside you.

As for a movie, I’d recommend Interstellar. It’s not just a sci-fi masterpiece; it’s a profound exploration of human connection, limitless possibility and the power of pushing boundaries.

A LOCAL FEMALE TALENT TO BE PROMOTED AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL

Surorile Osoianu are a perfect example of local female talent that deserves to be celebrated on an international stage. These 5 incredible sisters have crafted an artistic journey that is deeply rooted in Romanian tradition while pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation.

Their work stands as an exponent of the local creative spirit, reminding the world that Romanian art is as rich and diverse as the culture it comes from.
